On paper, this might all sound slightly odd, but it's an extremely flexible system, and with four internal stereo channels and hardware routing built into many of the modules, creative routing setups can be built to an extent that we've not seen in an audio editor before. You can freely arrange all of these and hide, deactivate and generally organise stuff in the Documents window, which lists all of the active Generators. These include the Input, Input Recorder, Virtual Instrument and Audio File Player modules, which feed into the Audio Output and Output Recorder modules. I'm not yet ready to spent the money on SoundBlade. The main thing you should understand about DSP-Quattro is that it's a modular system, with sound-producing modules called Audio Generators. I'm thinking of ditching Peak, since I've had issues with the program before, and they've obviously gone out of business. To be honest, I have had issues with Peak before, so it would not have surprised me to have found that the compiled CD from Peak LE 7 was different than the files that were compiled to actually burn the CD. And, while I understand that syndrome, it was certainly (and thankfully) not the fault of any of my equipment, the cd burner, or the program. Seems that the client had a bit of "that sounded different in the studio than in my car" syndrome. I checked the burned CD on several machines here - as well as my car - and all is well. There wasn't even a hint of sound on the output buss. I did as was suggested earlier, and by you, to inverse polarity on both left and right channels with the reference track and original track both playing at a sample-correct starting point. Thanks, Lagerfeldt, very much for your very thorough response. PlexTools can reveal bad burns, but it's only available for Windows. Ripping it back will not necessarily reveal this. So: a bad CD burn can sound harsher than the original audio, due to the error-correction. A CD is designed with cross-interleaved error correction, but this is not always enough. So a CD can sound different than the extracted audio due to physical issues with the pits on the CD or scratches in combination with the real-time error correction in the CD player.Īny scratched areas or problematic pits are usually read multiple times during an offline rip in a computer in order to get a precise reading, but will be interpolated (guessed) in real-time in a CD player. However, this does not mean it sounds correct once played from a CD player since the actual playback quality depends on real-time error correction. If the two files null this means the source and the audio on the CD are identical. If extra frames have been added during the CD burn then you need to sample align the two files first or you won't get a null. Make sure one of the tracks have the Utility > Gain plug-in inserted with the polarity inversed on both the left and right side of the stereo image. Then play the ripped audio simultaneously with the source file. You can extract (rip) the audio from the CD to your hard disk and then import it into Logic. Is there a quick way to "check" that a burned CD's track is exactly the same as the. PPS - Thanks, David! I owe you so many beers/coffees if I'm ever in LA again. Absolutely no plugins, filters, or "emphasis" was used when burning with Peak LE 7 - just a straight burn. While I don't hear a difference in the files, the client says that the burned CD sounds like it has more "highs". ![]() wav file, then burned to disc using Peak LE 7. The file was exported from Logic Pro X as a 16-bit. wav file, and I'm trying to discern if either a) they are insane and are imagining things or b) I am insane and not imagining things (the difference). PS - I'm asking this because there seems to be a client who hears a difference in the burned file vs. I would imagine I may have to line the files up exactly (if they aren't already). wav file onto Track 2, can I (in theory) reverse the phase on "left" and "right" of the Track 2 and end up with basically not hearing anything from the Output if they are identical? I hope that makes sense. So, another quick question - if I were to put the burned disc version on Track 1 then import the.
